CIM K300 Installation Instructions
Important! Abbreviated instruction for Technical Support.
The CIM K300 Card Printer installs the same as most standard windows printers.
1. Close out of all open programs.
2. Insert the CIM K300 Driver CD.
3. Go to Start > Settings > Printers.
4. Double Click ADD printer.
5. Local Printer, DO NOT auto detect.
6. Select the appropriate port.
7. For Manufacturer and Device click on Have Disk.
8. Browse the CD-ROM to .\Driver\Optima K300\DRV1_P310\WinNT\p310.inf and click open.
9. Click OK and click on Next.
10. If prompted for any additional files, browse the CD-ROM to .\Driver\Optima K300\common.
11. Complete the printer installation by answering the questions as needed.
In order for the printer to work from Infinity, version 3.5.0.478 of Infinity needs to be installed
and the P210_PetID.iau database update needs to be installed. Both of these are available through
the downloads section of the iCAN. The database update adds a default standard label template
(PetID) to Infinity. This template is designed for use with the CIM K300 Card Printer. The update
also adds the standard label page (CR-80), and adds the Card Printer to the list of Application
printers in Workstation Preferences. Infinity version 3.5.0.478 adds the following features
necessary to print to the card printer.
1. Client and/or Patient Images on the ID Cards are done with a prompt. When printing the
cards, a prompt appears asking the user to select an image.
2. The PetID template Prints a barcode based on the Full Id of the pet. The Full ID is a
combination of the client ID number and the Patient ID. The Barcode that is printed for the
Full ID is restricted to 3-16 characters. This will affect clinics with long Client or Patient
account ID’s.
Some Key Printer Features:
9 Uses CR-80 plastic cards. Prices vary depending on volume purchased. $.10 a card if
purchased in lots of 1,000.
9 Printer uses Five Panel YMCKO color ribbons.
a. Ribbons are CMYK and utilize gas transfer to print high quality images
b. Black only ribbons available
9 CMYK Ribbons print 200 sides or 100 cards and sell for $46.50. Black only Ribbons print
1000 sides or 500 cards and sell for $9.00.
9 Price per card if printed in color on both sides: 2 sides * $.24 for ribbon + $.17 for the card
= $0.65. Price per card if 1 side color, 1 side black: $.24 for color + $.01 black + $.16 for
card = $.40 / card.
9 Cleaning Cards should be run through the printer every 1000 prints.
